Starting a new ebusiness can bring many challenges.  One of the first critical areas is deciding on a Niche Market that will help build a prosperous business.

This can be a daunting task given the huge marketplace out there. It is not just about what’s hot in the market right now.  If you try to go up against the giant suppliers that simply won’t work.

A great way to start is simply begin to ‘Think Like a Customer’.  Start by writing down everything about yourself - your likes, dislikes, interested, hobbies, experiences and challenges.  Then begin to narrow your thinking to a need that you currently have or once had.  Identify how that need was met or how you would like that need to be met.

We all, from time to time, have had unique needs and wants. You are the customer and so in thinking like a customer you can identify what it is that you are passionate about.

Your next step is to focus in on those narrowly defined areas and ask yourself, “Do I have a unique knowledge of one of these areas”?  “Could I bring that knowledge to the marketplace as someone with expertise?”

What else could give you the confidence to launch an ebusiness more than being an expert in a particular area?  That’s really what you are after!  Building a successful ebusiness that is focused on a part of the market where you can bring knowledge or expertise. That confidence in your product will help you sustain your commitment, and drive.

When you find a product offering that you can launch with confidence, you are much further ahead and better equipped for success.

niche marketing
What does niche marketing mean? Niche marketing is about finding small opportunities on the web, small areas in which people might be interested and for which they might be searching. Big companies and experienced webmasters are not interested in these areas because they are not important enough. But a small business could be something in which you might be interested.

Perhaps a small mini website will not generate thousands of dollars every month; it might generate 100 bucks, for example. That is ok, if the effort involved in terms of creating this mini website is not too high; in this way, you could repeat the same business model again and again. Taking into consideration that every small business could generate around $100 every month, with ten niches, you could earn $1.000 monthly. Does this sound better? And what if you could create 50 websites?

The first step in this kind of business is always keyword research. You need to find small markets which do not have competition. Wordtrack is a very good tool to use for finding niche opportunities. For every keyword, it tells you the number of searches and how many results are found on each search engine. You need to pay special attention to the KEI column. KEI is the index that balances the number of searches and the number of competitors. The more searches and the fewer the competitors, the better for you. A KEI higher than 10 is good, but you should, ideally, look at keywords with a KEI over 100. More than 400 is a gift.

Once you have identified your niche, you need to find content for it. Don`t worry about which product you are going to sell; this will come later. The “fuel” of any Internet business is content. So where can you find content? Well, if you are an expert in an area, you could write your own articles, but if you are not, you have to look for content somewhere else.

There are many article directories that offer a lot of content that you can use. You can also find much content just by searching the web. Use search engines, find blogs, forums, websites, etc. Last, but not least, you can always find information as in “the old times,” go to the library or buy one or two books.

After you have found enough content, it is time to register a domain name. You should choose a name that has something to do with your target market, but if your intention is to create multiple mini websites, you don’t need to register a different domain name every time. You can save money by having one global domain name, and create sub domains for each business.

The question now is, “Since everything looks good, how do I make money with these sites?” You need to follow this 3 step formula (CTM):

- Create Content

- Generate Traffic

- Monetize your website

You can build traffic by optimizing the webpage content for the search engines and by analyzing your competitors in order to build a better SEO strategy (but this is another chapter). Blogging and pinging is a way to make sure that your site will be spidered by the search engines. Wordpress is a very good option for creating your blog, as it allows you to post, not only articles, but pages. You can easily build miniwebsites with Wordpress. Finally, there are three easy ways to earn money with your site.

1. Sell some product that you can create yourself. If you have this ability and you want to allow people to buy your products with a credit card, the easiest way is to create a Paypal account. If you don’t have one, visit http://www.paypal.com and create one.

2. Join affiliate programs. Find people who sell products related to your market niche and who have affiliate programs already set up. You will earn commissions just by selling other people’s items. A good place to find affiliate programs on products is http://www.clickbank.com.

3. Google Adsense. Create an account at Google Adsense and include Google ads on your site. Every time someone visits your site and clicks one of those ads, Google will share its profit with you.

Creating small businesses is like a game. They do not require high investment, but they will not make you rich either. However, if you start playing many of those games, it can become a serious business.

niche marketing
iche Marketing? What is SEO? Let’s see if we can answer these questions.

Niche marketing with SEO isn’t quite self explanatory - so here’s a simple overview. A niche is simply a product category that people are looking for and that doesn’t have overwhelming competition on the supply side of the demand/supply equation.

The ideal niche is one that has great demand and little or no supply available. Such niches are rare. You could spend a lifetime looking for one and never find it - so don’t count on this if you are planning to do niche marketing.

Fortunately, niche marketing with SEO doesn’t require that one’s niche be ideal to be good from our perspective - just good enough. Most people who set up marketing websites don’t research the competition very thoroughly while picking the market in which they are going to operate. This is a good thing for those of us in the know about online market research.

By picking a niche with relatively high demand and low supply, and by “optimizing” our website to attract the notice of the search engines, we can compete successfully in the marketplace.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It consists of two parts: on-page optimization and off-page optimization. On-page optimization is mostly a matter of picking a keyword for your page that matches the informational theme of the page. A web page with the theme “niche marketing” would have “niche marketing” in the keywords meta-tag in the Page Source” view of your browser.

Off-page optimization is effected by the recognition accorded your web page by other webmasters - primarily expressed as links from their websites to yours. Search engines are able to track both optimization factors - and they give more weight to the latter than to the former.

A page will have matured when other niche marketing websites, known to be authorities, contain links pointing to the page. SEO is a big subject and you will see it referred to repeatedly throughout many websites concerned with niche marketing. The first question that should occur to you at this point is - What Am I Going to Sell?

Rather than pick a product that is familiar to you - or one that you can create yourself - both of which are very tempting choices - I strongly suggest that you decide at the outset to pick one that you know people want. In other words do the market research first - find out what people are actually looking for and that can be sold profitably - and then decide what to sell.

If your research leads you to a subject that is not the most familiar, don’t let it throw you. Learn the subject and then sell it. It is likely that you will find a niche in an area with which you already have some familiarity, because you are likely to start with something familiar as you begin doing the research. It is best if this is so, because you can write most capably about a subject about which you care passionately.

What Do I need to Know to Do Niche Marketing with SEO?

In simplest terms you need to know:

* How to set up a website properly,

* How to select the search engine keywords that will bring traffic to your website,

* How to structure your website to be ranked highly by the search engines - so it appears on the first page of “results” that a search engine displays when a visitor searches for your keywords,

* How to “monetize” your web traffic to create multiple streams of income, and

* How to lead your sites visitors to a decision to buy what you are selling - without using a heavy-handed sales pitch. This is called “pre-selling”.

The first of these questions is answered very thoroughly by sources that I will reference in subsequent articles. It is a big subject - bigger than I can include in this article.

The choice of keywords has also been covered by many writers on the subject. Each has his own angle on how to do the research, and some provide useful tools either free or at modest cost.

How To “Monetize” Your Website

To monetize your website is simply to connect your site’s readers with an opportunity to buy something in such a way that you make money in the process. There are a number of good choices in this regard, and you can use more than one of them.

For starters, you can directly sell something via your website using your own merchant account or PayPal account. Your product might be a tangible item that you are prepared to drop-ship to your customer - or it might be a piece of software, an e-book, or an information product that you will deliver immediately as an electronic file.

Then again, you might sell a product produced by a company of whom you are an affiliate. There are many good affiliate programs available. In this case you simply include on your website a link that takes the reader to a website provided by the product supplier. The link identifies you to the supplier, so if the reader becomes a customer, you get a commission on the sale. Such commissions can run as high as 75% and be very profitable to you.

And/or you might contract with a product or service provider to be paid a fixed fee for each referral that you send their way via your website.

And/or you might sell advertising space on your website, either using Google’s Adsense program, which will pay you on a per-click basis, or through one of several other available programs. Some of these pay you on a weekly or monthly basis and can be more lucrative than Adsense ads.

A Note On Monetizing

One of the most common mistakes that beginners make when setting up a commercial website is to monetize the site too soon. Until the site contains enough useful content, its readers should not be expected to trust its author enough to buy anything on the site. Why should they? The traffic to the site will tell you when that trust has been established - then you will have “earned” the right to monetize it.

If you monetize too soon, before you have at least thirty highly informative pages and twenty unique visitors per day, then you run the risk that both search engines and human visitors will just see the site as a sales pitch - and accord it little value or rank.

The Value Of “Pre-Selling”

As I said earlier, most Internet surfers are not looking for advertising when they use the search engines. They are looking for useful information - authoritative information that informs them about the subject of interest to them. When you provide such information, you gain credibility in your readers’ eyes that you could never acquire by presenting them with a sales pitch.

Niche marketing is all about credibility. As your readers recognize the intrinsic value of the information that you provide, they become more open to the idea of buying something from you. As this occurs, the likelihood that they will buy from you rises, the percentage of visitors who are “converted” into customers rises accordingly - and the ease with which you make money online soars.

If you are serious about making money with niche marketing, the next thing you need to study is the choices you will need to address in deciding how you will go about doing so.

Do you have trouble finding hot niches? Well, most internet marketers are confronted with this problem. The best niche marketing ebook for 2009 reveals six working and easy-to-use niche hunting strategies, so that you will never have to face “niche anxiety” again. In this article I will introduce three ways to find hot niches according to the niche marketing ebook. With this information you will be able to find a whole bunch of profitable niches.

The first strategy, according to the niche marketing ebook, is a method only a small group of internet marketers is familiar with. The usage of this tool enables you to steal your competitors’ keywords - without making a huge effort and by absolutely legal means. You find this tool at semrush.com and it works as follows: First you have to type a website address you want to research in the field at the top. Then you get a list of results with the keywords the website is listed under. This tool also displays the position as well as the percentages of traffic and costs for each keyword. In the free version you get ten keywords as a result, and you always have the option to upgrade to the paid version and get all the keywords.

An often overlooked opportunity to find hot niches consists in the use of the MSN website. The top banner of this website contains 25 broad categories. With just a few clicks you will be able to dig a little deeper and find many sub-categories. Within these sub-categories you can discover very valuable information about the different industries, and you also have access to reviews and sub-niches. The information is seasonal and highly relevant - at thanksgiving, for example, you have access to recipes, tips and tricks at the food and entertainment sector. With this information at hand you can easily create profitable campaigns in different sub-niches. Based on some examples the niche marketing ebook will show you how you can find more niches than you can handle by spending just 15 minutes at the MSN homepage.

The third method to find niches, according to the niche marketing ebook, is a very creative method. You are probably familiar with the google keyword tool. This free tool is extremely useful when it comes to finding new niches. Most people don’t apply this fantastic tool correctly and, thus fail to find new niches. First, you should type in a very broad keyword, e.g. “window” or “Game”. Then you will get a bunch of keywords related to the keyword entered. Take some minutes and attentively go over this list. Take down interesting keywords and dig even deeper. This way you will be able to find some sub-niches based on long tail keywords you haven’t thought of before. As a side note: There is no need to buy a “paid” keyword tool - in fact, the google keyword tool provides you with all the necessary data to find hot niches.

With the three niche hunting strategies provided in this article you must never be afraid of not finding hot niches. If you want to take advantage of additional three efficient niche hunting strategies you can download the best niche marketing ebook for 2009. This ebook also covers the three strategies mentioned in this article and described in more detail with some examples.

A niche market is simply a narrowed target market. Developing a niche takes some time, research and thought - but the results are worth it. You start by looking at several possibilities and narrowing it down based on several factors such as the fit between your business and the niche, the possibility for growth, and so on.

Below are 4 criteria to think about and explore when trying to choose the ideal niche for your company:

1. the niche “fits” you

* your unique knowledge, gifts and strengths are a match with the niche

* you like to work with these kinds of people and environments

* you can utilize your expertise in this area and become known as an expert

* you have contacts and/or experience with this niche

* you are passionate and knowledgeable about this specific niche’s issues and problems

2. the niche market is the right size

* not too large that it is impossible (in terms of money, time and resources) to market to it

* not too large that the big companies (who have the money, time and resources) have targeted it

* not too small that there is not enough people to justify and sustain your marketing and business efforts

3. there is competition in the niche

* if there is no competition it usually means that there is not enough demand for any products and services, and there doesn’t exist potential for growth in this niche

* you need to be sure that the people in this niche know they have a problem and are actively seeking a solution

* there should be potential for prospective partnerships and collaborations with other businesses serving the same niche market

4. The niche is reachable and receptive

* you have several different ways to connect with prospects and clients in this niche - i.e. media, publications, online and offline strategies, etc.

* you need to make sure there are several ways in which you can be highly visible to the people in this niche, i.e. writing, speaking or networking

* this niche market is open to getting help and spending money on products and services to aid them

Use these 4 points as a guide to helping you choose a particular group of people to offer your products and services to. Remember that when you choose a niche market to focus your marketing on, this doesn’t mean that you can’t work with others who may come to you - via your website, speaking engagements, referrals and so on. All it means is that your efforts and resources are focused on marketing to your niche and getting really well known in your niche.

Many people get panicked at the thought of having to choose one niche only and spending the rest of their business lives catering to them. Don’t forget that marketing is a process that changes and grows as you and your business evolves. You can always refine your niche market as you learn more and there’s nothing stopping you from having multiple businesses that cater to different niche markets!

Hello niche marketing enthusiasts,

I am fairly new to the niche marketing community but have been studying and following along for about a year now. I’ve started my own blog but like to take the time to visit others. The blogs I have found are terrific and this one is exceptional. I will definitely be coming back here. I am a true believer and pretty much dedicate all of my spare time to our favorite topic, niche marketing. Anytime I find out something that I feel will be of value I like to pass on as I would hope someone would extend that courtesy to a novice like me.

A bit about me: I am an active duty Air Force member and will be retiring from that line of work in a few short months to pursue my favorite hobby, soon to be full time, niche marketing. I fell in love with niche marketing and have been trying my hand at dabbling in it. I have learned so much this past year but hunger for more knowledge. Have to feed the niche monster you know. I want to be in the company of those that think alike about the all mighty Niche. I’m no guru yet but just you wait, LOL.

Niche enthusiasts I want to pass on my two cents about a web site that I just happened across and mention a great company that specializes in the wonderful topic you and I thrive on, niche marketing. If you ever want a great place to get your niche market copywriting done for your specialized niche, i.e. Ghost Writing, then check out The Write Touch 4U. They have a very professional courteous staff always willing to help out. They guarantee all of their work, timely and very personable in communication. They also specialize in writing on any niche topic you can think of. I went with them on my first project and wanted to have a certain recipe book written. I was asked if I had done the research. Being the novice that I am I bowed my head tucked my tail and said no. They actually recommended that I not waste my time and actually pointed me in the right direction on how to do the research. They didn’t just take my money and run. I’m so grateful for that, whew! In the mean time after following their recommendations I have done my research and am confident with my choice. The results they returned are astonishing. I am very happy with my end product. I don’t use anyone else now. If you are tired of searching through a bunch of freelance websites sorting who you think might be a good match and only getting sub-par work or books that are turned in late, then take a stroll over to their website and drop them a line. I’m very sure you will not be disappointed. I will personally stake my reputation on that.

Well I hope this information benefits someone and I do appreciate you all for reading my post. If you have the time and care to check out my blog I would be more than happy to have you sign in. Leave me a post good or bad. I can take it.

niche marketing
The origin of the word niche is from an ecological perspective, how a species finds a place where they can not just survive but thrive. The same goes for you and your niche. Being a whale in a pond isn’t much use but nor is being a stickleback in the ocean. Marketing is all about finding the right customers for the product. When you pick a product and market it to a select group of people, you will have more success than promoting the same product to a generic ‘everyone’.

Here are some Niche Marketing Examples.

What you eventually choose as a niche market should be something you enjoy doing. It’s hard to think of exiting things to say about cheese if you’re constantly on a low fat diet. Alternatively someone who loves cheese can talk for hours about the various types. What country they come from and the techniques that are used to make them, these topics come easily. A niche site does well when it can provide information of true value. With a physical product such as cheese this is quite easy to do.

Selecting Which Information to Display

When you are dealing with an information product however it can be more difficult to create a good content site without giving all your secrets away for free. You need to show people that you know what you’re talking about while holding back enough so they’ll feel the need to pay for it.

Try to pick a niche where there are both types of products and the more products you can fit inside your niche the better off you are for creating good content. This brings a range of interesting information that will allow people to browse for a while.

Example 1 : Tiling

Let’s suggest tiling for an example. I would imagine this to be a good niche to create an Adsense site around. Advertisers that supply expensive Italian tiles can have their ads placed well. Ceramic glues and grout suppliers will want to advertise there. Makers of tile cutting tools will want to show an ad for their products.

You can easily pad out content by talking about history and geography as it relates to tiles. You can sell home decorating books and do it yourself books while still giving some basic information specific to setting tiles that will be helpful. You could compare different techniques about how to lay tiles on a floor with a cement base versus laying tiles onto a wooden base. You can give tips on how to glue a wall tile on and the use of spacers.

An article page on how to cut a tile showing them how to curve a cut around a pipe may lead to someone realizing they don’t have a grinder and they need one. If you have Adsense on such a page advertising grinders you may get lucky with a click or lead. If there’s a company offering a coupon or bonus for their tools you can display their pictures and an affiliate link.

Example 2 : Budgeting

Wherever there is money there is a niche. I found in the bookshop endless shelves and choices for books about how to handle superannuation but a real dearth on how to budget successfully on a small income. Living within one’s means may not be exiting but its restful to know you can pay the bills.

In such a niche you could look for free calculation software, you could make up excel spreadsheets and shopping lists, you could include viral shopping vouchers and if you’ve ever managed to budget successfully yourself, you could write a book on it. I certainly got asked a lot for books on how to budget but its possible these customers may not be people who can afford the internet so it may not be a profitable niche.

Make sure to research a niche for profitability before you commit much time to building a site around it. Your time is too precious to waste.

Example 3 : The Niche Market

Groups of People with a Similar Problem are a Niche

The last of our niche marketing examples is about people. A niche can just as easily be based around a group of people as it can be around a single topic. Rather than concentrate on the huge topic of childcare, concentrate a site around grandparents left to look after kids, or one just on single fathers dealing with toddler issues.

Issues are Just as Important a Niche as People.

Children trying to cope with the death of a parent and counseling services. The emotions adults feel when they start looking for children they gave away for adoption or those now grown adoptees who are looking for their genetic parents and private detectives. Sudden illness in a family and insurance. Remember your role is to match a product to a market.

To monetize your niche all you need to do is find an expert. You don’t have to be one. Any decent researcher can find enough solid content for a site, so long as they feel strongly enough about its topic. Look at it just as you would a school project. You find information, you find some pictures, you list your resources and you link to products. Link to the expert products or services that you feel will give the best information.

You are the middle man, the matchmaker. Don’t think of it as selling so much as enabling people to find what they are looking for. By promoting products from experts who can help people solve problems you are providing a service to both the reader and the merchant. And you make a living.

Have you ever needed to promote a product online? It was really easy five years ago, but today you will deal with great number of competitors, SEO optimizations, internet marketing professionals, etc. Is there a chance to will search engines battle, if you have low resources? The answer is - YES! You can win if you will not try to fight large companies and competitors with almost unlimited resources. You chance is to win in a very tight segment of market, people can this segment “niche”.

Why it is important to dominate in niche, not in the whole market? Because it is easier and cheaper, if you will be able to dominate in a certain niche, you will have a base for the future market attacks, more over you will be able to generate revenue fast, right after business start-up, as your goals will be to fight a very tight niche, not the whole market.

Let’s focus on dominating niche market in Internet. Fighting for a niche in internet means fighting for certain keywords, that describe this niche. How many keywords are there? Depends on niche, market and your product. Topically the niche starts with 5 keywords, it might have up to 50 keywords, but if you have more, you should consider if you are dealing with niche or bigger market segment?

Also, niche is something where you don’t face much competition. Sure, there must exists some bigger market players, who might be interested in the niche, but the niche must be too small for them to fight.

So how to dominate a certain web niche? First, it is important to find out what your niche is. It is necessary to determine keywords that describe your niche, and keywords that don’t describe your niche. There are a number of ways you can do this, for instance, you can research niches using Google Adwords account, you need to find a ads with highest CRT and conversions rate. You don’t need to fight for keywords that gives you a maximum impressions. These keywords are what your larger competitors are fighting for. Pay attention to keywords that generate you a lot of clicks. Google takes into account your ads, relevance of your page, so these very keywords might be your niche.

How to fight for a niche online? There are a number of methods, but please, understand, that what worked yesterday will not work tomorrow. The general recommendation is having more unique content on your web-site and getting more inbound links. How to get more backlist to your web-site? There are a number of methods that work - you might try article marketing, link exchange and buying, paid reviews, but remember, that everything you do must be relevant to your niche and your keywords.

I do personally like article marketing, because in this case you can achieve several goals, e.g. get a unique content for your web-site, provide our people with important information about your product and tell them about your expertise in this very niche. It works fine and you will be getting a better revenue soon.

Finally, the most important step in your web niche marketing strategy. Pay a great attention to results you have in terms of search engine positions, conversion rate, sales volume. Pay attention to key performance indicators of your on-line niche marketing campaign and you will achieve great results!

It’s not a niche market, and there isn’t much to them. Any vendors out there can shed some light on this?
