Find Your Affiliate Niche Market:
What topics are you interested in? Break down your categories of interest into sub-categories. This will help you find your sub-niche within a niche.

Most new affiliate marketers get hung up on too broad of categories like: Make Money Online. With a broad category, you need to analyze it down to that niche markets sub-categories.

Do what interests you; find your niche; do what you are passionate about; sell the products that interest you the most.
These are the pieces of advice that entrepreneurs are told time and again. And there is some basis to this thought, some method behind this madness. The overall belief is that if you choose to do business in an area or ‘niche’ that you are deeply interested in, that passion will shine through and you will make sales almost accidentally. The feeling is that by selling products or working within your most favorite niche you will have a built-in sense of urgency and desire that will compel you to work on your business and to succeed.
Moreover, by working within a niche category of personal interest you will come prepared. That is, you will come armed with bucket loads of knowledge and experiences with various products so that you don’t have to ‘waste time’ getting up to speed. You’ll already know the products that deserve promotion. And you’ll know all the promotional background information almost off the top of your head.
The belief is that if you focus on promoting products that are in some way of interest to you, you can easily take care of business. You can construct websites that will sell the products; you can write articles to submit to directories and gain links back to you, the niche expert; you can build blog upon blog and never run out of something great to say about your favorite little widget that so transformed your life as a widget collector (whether you should or not, is another matter, and we’ll discuss that later).
Here’s the thing about this-none of it is untrue. It is easier to put yourself behind a product you already know. It is easier to hit the ground running when you are already well-versed in matters. It is easier to connect with visitors and readers who are more like you. So why, then, is it a myth to believe that you should focus first and foremost on your personal-interest niche as an affiliate marketers? Why can’t that mean virtually automatic sales and commissions?
The reasoning against personal niche concentration is more simplistic than you might think. And in point of fact, there are some exceptions to the rule, which we can touch upon after you understand why the myth in general is a myth.
What’s wrong with doing something you are passionate about? There is nothing truly wrong with it. But there is something unprofitable about it in an overwhelmingly large percentage of cases. What is unprofitable about this mindset is that it is just too limiting. By choosing your business and products based on one personal preference, you lose the freedom of choice. And that freedom is important, because it is what allows you to give buyers what they want, and saddles you with a limited number of affiliate product options, most of the time in a niche that isn’t seeing very high demand.
Very simply, unless your niche interest happens to be in products or subject areas that coincide with what people are ready to buy, it does not come with the most essential element of affiliate marketing success-built-in customers.

Creating one small website may not produce the thousands of dollars you wish, but think of creating multiple websites based on tight niches. That is where the money will come in because that is what the public will be looking for.
The first thing you will do is to find the first niche by researching keywords. Using will be a big help in finding related keywords for the niche you are researching. Look for a KEI of at least 10. A KEI of 100 is best and if it’s over 400, you’ve won the jackpot!
After you have found your particular niche, you will need to get the content for your website. You will have to either write articles, re-write private label articles, have articles written for you or use articles from other authors. You must keep the author’s resource box (bio) that is located at the end of the article with the article when you use it. You can find these articles in article directories. You’ll find tons of article directories by typing “article directory” into Google Search. Each article will be based upon a keyword or keyword phrase.
Now, you will need to register a domain name; something like yoursitename.com. It should be based as closely as possible on your website’s niche topic. You will also need web hosting so you will have a home for your website.
Next, you need to Montetize your site. Look for multiple ways to bring income in from your website.
Add affiliate programs and Google Adsense. Be sure you have good (real) content on your website before asking Google to approve your account. They frown on “Under Construction” notices and your account will not be approved.
Choose affiliate products that compliment your website’s niche. Don’t put gambling banners and ads on a site that’s about dogs. That’s not what your site’s visitors are looking for. If you don’t know where to look for affiliate products, you can find nearly any product for your niche at ClickBank.com.
Get a product to sell on your site. Write an ebook about your niche or have one written for you. Write a sales page and use PayPal to accept payments.
The last step is to get traffic. Your web pages need to be optimized for the keyword or keyword phrase that your page content is based on. Remember at the beginning when you wrote your articles based on a keyword? That keyword needs to appear in your article (page) title, in the Heading, in the first paragraph and at least a couple times in the body of your article so the search engines can find it.
Another way to get traffic is to write more articles and submit them to article directories. I believe this is one of the best free traffic generators there is.
Blogging is also an excellent way to get visitors to your website. Most cpanel servers have Fantastico which installs WordPress with just a few steps. When you have a blog, every time you post an article or other information, it “pings” the pinging services. This causes your site to be spidered by the search engines quicker than just using one or two methods of traffic generation.
You can make money in niche marketing, but it will take effort. Carefully do your research, follow search engine optimization rules, and go for the traffic.

Remember ‘Differentiate or Die’, a noble concept peddled not so long ago for survival of corporations? Online it is ‘Niche or Die’. This is becoming increasingly critical for the small internet businesses.
Niche marketing is a simple concept that involves targeting very specific keywords and optimizing your website and internet marketing for those specific terms. This practice can help a business, even one in a very competitive online category, to gain an advantage in the search listings.
You probably have heard that the internet has leveled the playing field for businesses small or large; those with huge budgets and those with shoe string budgets. As much as this is true, you will quickly discover that no sooner than you have rolled out a Pay per Click campaign, that your moneyed competitors are willing to bid 10 times more than you can even afford. a strategy called loss leader. As an online business person you are ill-equipped to market to the high traffic keywords (read huge markets) both monetarily and capacity wise. Unless you like the feeling of your head cramped in a vice, you are better of targeting more low-traffic yet closely related keywords. Though the internet does give you access to these huge markets theoretically, you will be quickly overwhelmed trying to satisfy it.
As a small business, trying to fight for the same market as itunes or amazon is often suicidal. In answer to that, let’s paint a little picture… Imagine you have an idea for a great product, an idea so great you decide to turn it into a product and sell it. You’re going to make millions so you labor away hour after hour creating a masterpiece, well… It’s a masterpiece in your eyes.
Hours of feverish activity, a month goes past, then another, and finally the great day arrives when you launch your product. You have a superb product and the best sales website on the internet. Another month goes buy, then two and… Not one sale!
In desperation you hire an experienced marketer for their advice, but what they tell you, crushes you…
“You don’t stand a snowballs chance in hell of making any sales!”
You see you have picked a massive market to sell to; you are competing against big established suppliers who are seen as experts. The market trusts them because they are well known and have great reputations. It’s David against Goliath only David forgot his sling.
If this has happened to you, you’re not alone. This little scenario plays itself out day after day. Each month thousands of people find themselves in this situation.
Doesn’t it infuriate you to see others seemingly doing exactly what you did, but they make money? From their product launch they bank the profits. Want to know what they did differently?
They found a niche market, created a product specifically for it and they sell that product to that niche only. Don’t make the mistake of thinking niche marketing is something new, savvy marketers have always sold to niches. It’s only recently that niche marketing has been so heavily publicized.
Niche marketing is the process of finding small profitable segments of a much larger market and involves a lot more effort. Established suppliers to larger markets are usually not prepared to spend this time and effort required to seek out smaller segments, leaving them ripe for the picking.
One way of explaining the niche marketing concept is to picture a tree - it has a big trunk which leads to branches leading to even smaller branches and finally tiny twigs. Take the topic of fishing which can be likened to the trunk of the tree having branches leading away from it including:
- Deep Sea Fishing
- Salt Water Fishing
- Game Fishing
- Fresh Water Fishing
The smaller branches leading from Fresh Water Fishing include:
- Fishing Baits
- Bass fishing
- Fly Fishing
The tiny twigs leading from Fly Fishing include:
- Trout Fishing
- Steelhead Fishing
- Fly Tying
This is a good example of niche marketing because people who fish tend to be nuts about the subject. Drill all the way down to the tiny segment of Steelhead fishing and there are still avid enthusiasts who will go to any expense to catch the “big one”, including buying books or e-books.
One point worth noting is that any book or e-book on Steelhead Fishing had better be full of useful advice (i.e. the advice works), so you had better be an expert and know what you’re talking about if you intend to write one…
Finding niche markets is not as easy or obvious as you might think. Sitting down with a piece of paper and drawing a tree listing all your ideas is NOT the way to go. You are listing your ideas… your ideas won’t sell!
You need to find what your potential customers want, and to do this you need to conduct some research, here are a few ideas to get you started:
1) Visit a few online forums related to your interests. Take note of the questions people are asking and how many times similar questions are asked.
2) Visit a few book stores and go to the magazine section. Take note of the types of magazines on sale. Ask the sales assistant which magazines sell the most.
3) Take a look on eBay and spend some time going through the categories related to your interest. Take note of popular items and how often they sell.
By finding a small segment of a much larger market in which people are actively buying, and where there are not too many competitors, is the best chance you have of making money from selling your own product.

This can be a daunting task given the huge marketplace out there. It is not just about what’s hot in the market right now. If you try to go up against the giant suppliers that simply won’t work.

So, let’s get started.
Step One: Your Goal
The goal of this process is to come to the end of it with a brand new niche market that you know you can go into and start making money almost immediately. It’ll be a hungry market, with hungry buyers, and enough openings for you to slip in without anyone noticing.
Step Two: Amazon.com
We’re after a clearly defined niche market that is already populated by a group of hungry buyers. So, we’re going to start at Amazon.com. At the top of the first page, next to the search box, select the book department, and go. In the left hand navigation column, you’ll notice all the different book topics. Pick one that interests you. Let’s say, Parenting & Families.
Now, you’ll notice a new set of topics in the left hand column. Pick one. Let’s say, Family Relationships. And from that navigation column, let’s choose Divorce.
Step Three: Reviews
Our first glance at the books on divorce will focus on the number of reviews for each book. Reviews indicate a market that’s involved and active, which is what we’re looking for. At the time of this writing, you’ll see review numbers such as 149, 29, 90, 30, 62, 42 and so on. These are wonderful numbers. They demonstrate a clearly-active group. If you were seeing much smaller numbers, let’s say in the 0-10 range, then you’d have to be a little concerned about your market. Though it’s only one consideration in this process.
Step Four: Titles
Next, you want to take a look at the titles. Even though this section is about divorce, you’ll find titles such as How to Survive the Loss of a Love, and The Good Bye Book: How To Heal A Broken Heart In 30 Days, and Rebuilding: When Your Relationship Ends. These are all possible sub-niches. Not just about divorce, but how to survive the loss of a relationship. So you might want to note these potential sub-niches for future reference.
Step Five: Amazon.com Numbers
Next, you want to take a look at the sales ranking of these titles. Helping Your Kids Cope With Divorce is #3,670 in Books. This can be found by clicking on the book cover and moving down the page to the section title Product Details. Amazon.com Sales Rank for this title is 3,670. Since they carry millions of titles, this is an excellent ranking. Make note of it.
Step Six: Dummies
Does the topic have an Idiot’s Guide or a Dummies book? In the case of divorce, yes, there’s a Divorce For Dummies title. This is a plus. It demonstrates that research has already been conducted in this niche and the folks behind the Dummies books felt it was a profitable niche to go after. It’s not devastating if there isn’t a Dummies title in your niche, but it’s a definite plus if there is one.
Step Seven:
Check out the competition. If you enter “divorce” in a Google search, you’ll find that there are over 66 million pages on the Internet with that word in the content. You can’t compete with 66 million pages. You’ll never be seen. So you want to find a niche within divorce that you can go after. To do this, go to the Google External Keyword Tool (https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal) and enter the term “divorce.” Then start going down the list and entering the supplied keywords into a Google search inside quotes (for example: “divorce dating”) until you find a group of keywords without tons of competition.
Now you’ve done your niche market research and you’ve got yourself a niche market.

Everyone wants traffic to their website. However, most people don’t know what it takes to get traffic. It’s a simple process, contrary to what the gurus will tell you. All you have to do is find good keywords, write quality content based on those keywords and then build backlinks to that content.
This is where most people drop the ball. They think if they write it people will come. This just isn’t true. What makes your content any better than the next guy’s What makes Google or any other search engine chooses to show your site in the search engine results as opposed to your neighbor’s
The answer is links. The number of people, places, sites that are linking to your content is what makes the difference between whether your site shows up in the search engine results or someone else’s. Now you just need to know what backlinks are and how to get them.
The first question is very simple, and what I will be dealing with in this article. Backlinks, simply put, are links pointing back to your site or a page on your site. Backlinks can happen in any number of ways. You can write something amazing other people like and want to tell people about and they link to you. You can take the process in your own hands and send out articles or make comments on blogs. There are of course, differing degrees of value between backlinks.
Google counts all the backlinks you have to your site. Some links it gives more weight to, others it gives less to. You will be wise to take on a link building strategy that involves both quality and quantity because both are important. You want to get backlinks from high page rank sites, Google likes these and gives you a little more credit for them. You also want to get links from directories, and other quantity type places. Although Google doesn’t give you as much credit for these you certainly get credit for having a lot of backlinks to your site.
The best possible backlink you can get is one where you have your chosen keyword in the anchor text of the link. This means if you had words in a sentence that someone could click on to go somewhere else, these would be your keywords. This is important because you are trying to rank in the search engine for specific keywords. Each time you have a link with a certain keyword or some derivation of it, you get credit. So never, never, write a link and have the words you click on be “click here” that’s a ridiculous waste of a backlink, unless, of course you are linking to someone you don’t want to give a backlink to.
You can link within your own site, from free places like squidoo and hubpages. There are a million places to get backlinks to your site. It can be the most boring part of online marketing, but if you don’t do it you will never find yourself number one in google and getting all that traffic.
