Success will never come from being a small fish in a big pond you have to become the big fish in a small pond. This is exactly what niche marketing is all about and it goes quite contrary to the traditional business philosophy of blanket marketing where your only goal is to get as many people as possible to see your offer.
For niche marketing it is easier to write about subjects you know, especially at first. Later you can expand your writing to include new topics which require more research and effort.
When you are selecting a niche to write about, consider the following points.
* The narrower your focus, you get less overall people on your mailing list but much more people will identify with you and your product.
* You don’t want to be the next book on the subject, but rather your book needs to be the ONLY book on the subject or one of the very few. Not only niche, but sub-niche.
* Targeted your niche audience and identify their need for a specific product - and provide them with that product.
There is a very well known marketer who makes over a million dollars a year on a niche most people never would have even considered… Pet products, namely grooming and pampering products. The lesson to be learned from this example is not to dismiss any subject just because it may sound off the wall. The rule of thumb is, if there is a need, fill it!
Your own first niche could be from a body of knowledge learned from a hobby, specialized schooling, business experience, the school of hard-knocks or some other favorite pastime. Everybody has a level of skill and/or knowledge of something that very well may be considered valuable to others. It is very easy to get started simple ask yourself a few questions.
1. What do you know a great deal about that others do not?
2. Which subjects are you passionate about and can really get into providing information about?
3. What is something you hate to do or have heard others complaining about that you can produce a solution for.
Remember, people on-line come from an off-line world, so you product doesn’t have to be about Internet based products or services. It could be a small problem in a big industry, such as the automotive industry.
I remember years ago how an extended visor was a big hit because most cars years ago simple didn’t provide a good or even an adequate level of protect from sun glare. There was a product in place, but it was flawed, this entrepreneur simple targeted the small problem and made an incredible amount of money from a big industry from one great, but small niche solution.
There are many basic step by step guides that can get you started, but if you want to make big money you have to do your research and find a mentor who is really making it big in niche marketing and learn their secrets… then repeat their success by repeating their actions, except in your own niche.

Do you understand what your niche market is? Do you know how to target your best prospects?
You often hear people talk about niche marketing, but are you entirely sure what your niche market is. You have to determine who is in the greatest NEED of your product or service.
Why would you have to know your niche Market? Well think about it, you want to get your advertising out to the people that would benefit and might be interested in your product or service.
If you are selling golf equipment you probably don’t want to advertise to pet owners looking for dog training items. You would want to focus your attention on someone who needs a
lighter club or wants the best balls for better accuracy.
What is the age range of your customer or business partners that you are trying to attract? Is your target audience anyone or is it geared to a specific age group, moms with kids, retired people,
or maybe the baby boomer generation.
You also need to know the demographics of your niche market. What countries or area of you countries that you are able to do business in determines this? Getting to know more about the population and income levels of you market will help have you to better placement of your advertising.
Once you have your niche market understood you can create advertising that is focused on the your best target market. This saves time and money and helps you get the best conversion rate of your advertising budget.
Do you have more than one niche market? That is entirely possible. Yes, even if it’s just for one product or service. Multi markets may be able to benefit from what you offer. To get the most benefit devote more time or money into your ideal target market and then follow with the next niche market. Always start with the largest group first.

Most companies, whether big and established or small and brand new, should direct their advertising to select niche audiences. Niche marketing can be tremendously lucrative.
For instance, visualize yourself presenting a product or service that’s just right for a select niche group. Because you are more selective your marketing budget would go a lot further because you are only reaching a small niche of customers. This allows you to promote with greater regularity and make more sells at a much lower cost. Taking on a new niche can be a low-risk way to cultivate your business, but there are some very important rules you must consider and never fall short on:
1. Fulfill their distinctive needs. The benefits you guarantee must have extraordinary appeal to the niche. What can you make available that meet the needs of your prospective clients, and seek ways to offer your product or service in ways your competitors can’t or won’t offer. It’s not always a lower price, but quite often more value that is the key.
2. Present what you have to offer the right way. You should get to know your market’s “action switches” … What have they purchased in the past… Go to that sales page and read through it to see what were the exact headlines, selling points, selling prices and closing remarks used in those sells letters… What was the call to action that “forced” them to buy the product?
Never forget when you begin to develop another niche market that you want to dominate, and annihilate the competition you find there, that success leaves a trace and you need to look for those traces and apply them over and over to your own niche marketing.
3. Always test your market. The simplest and easiest way to learn what your niche wants is to see what they are already buying. The next thing is to see what they didn’t like about that product or what they thought could be improved upon and then fill that need.
Almost no one other than the top marketers do this type of test marketing… I shouldn’t even reveal it, but I am. Find the last great selling product and place some target PPC or pay per impression ads on Google and ask for reviews on the product.. All you need is 100 to get a feel of what the attitude was about that product. . . Then fix that problem!
You already have thousands of people interest in that product, who purchased that product, and who want that little bit more over and beyond what that product didn’t provided… It doesn’t have to be the original creator of that niche product who does a follow up promotion… You can do it!
Do it in your own words, even use the product’s name unless it’s copyrighted. Tell people what you respectfully thought was lacking and then tell them you have the solution… It works!
Yes, there are a lot more details to this process that I can’t share in one simple article, but you do get the overall power of the concept. If you want to annihilate your niche competition this is an excellent way to do it by turning the short comings of their products into your own profit pool. You’ll build trust and a sense of expertise in your niche market by solving problems others overlooked. This is in fact what niche marketing is all about.

Niche marketing occurs when you intentionally focus your marketing efforts on a targeted portion of the Internet or another similar market. These targeted portions, known as niche markets, provide a product or service for a defined group of customers who have very specific needs. Niche marketers address the need and market accordingly.
For example, many people sell clocks. But, how many of them sell clocks that are shaped like animals? Selling animal-shaped clocks is niche marketing. Of course, clocks are only one example. Once, you get thinking about the kind of products and services you want to offer, you will realize that the possibilities for niche markets and niche marketers are virtually endless. As long as there is a need for a product, there is demand and potential in the demand.
One of the biggest mistakes that new Internet entrepreneurs make is ignoring the concept of niche marketing completely and focusing on big markets that appear to be big moneymakers. Though this may seem like a good idea at first, it is usually not the best option. The problem with this tendency is the level of competition that is often encountered. Those who are already established in the market are experts at what they do, which makes it almost impossible to compete with them when you are still learning the ropes of running an online business.
With niche markets, you can significantly increase your chances of success. Because there is less competition, people will actually be able to find your website, and in turn, buy your product. Instead of being at the bottom of a search engine index, your site can be right at the top. This will increase your chances of getting new customers, and more importantly, new sales.
Niche marketing can also help you get traffic to your site in other ways. For example, when using pay per click campaigns, niche marketers can choose to use keywords that have less competition and in turn, provide consumers with more opportunities to click on the niche marketer’s site. By targeting a specific group of people, you can actually increase your odds of getting a sale.
Niche marketing can also lessen an online business’ advertising expenses. Instead of promoting your products and skills to a wide customer base, you are focusing on a specific group of people. This means that you can advertise and market your goods in places that these targeted consumers frequent. So, instead of wasting money on ads that none or only a few of your potential customers will see, you can pay money for an ad that will be as effective as an ad can be.
If you want to avoid one of the most common business blunders made by new marketers, consider niche marketing. Niche markets are everywhere, providing you with the ability to monetize your website in ways you never imagined. All you have to do is find your niche and act on it.

Epiphany B. Martinsen wrote: Chances are you’ve heard the phrase “find your niche” more than once. But what does it really mean? Niche Marketing generally refers to the development of a monetized website intended to have a specific appeal to sub-mainstream markets. Most niche marketing websites are usually monetized with a mixture of Google Adsense and affiliate products.
Niche marketing is often considered an ideal venture for new marketers. This is because there is generally less competition in highly specific niches, which usually translates to lower operating and advertising costs. Choosing the right niche can also enable a new marketer to establish themselves as an expert while gaining valuable experience in the world of Internet marketing.
A profitable niche must meet a few requirements. The stronger each aspect is, the more profitable the niche can be. It comes down to “supply and demand”. First, it’s important that there are a good number of people actively searching for the information that your niche will be providing (i.e. high demand). Second, you’ll want to be sure that your niche does not have a lot of other websites targeting it (i.e. low supply). And finally, you’ll need to make sure there is money in your market. This all involves research.
Looking for a niche market should begin with a brainstorming session about things that you have some experience with or an interest in. Keep in mind, enjoying the niche you choose is always a plus as it will help you maintain your focus when building your business. Checking out your ideas on websites such as “Yahoo Buzz”, “AOL Hot Searches”, and “eBay Pulse” will give you a jump start on finding out if there is a high demand for them.
Keyword research is the absolute best way to drill down your niche into smaller, more specific sub-topics. Using the free keyword search tool offered by Wordtracker will assist with this. It will provide you with an estimated daily search volume for a given word and offer you suggestions for other words related to it. For example, doing a search for a topic like “recipes” will allow you to discover what types of recipes are being searched for and approximately how many people per day are searching for them.
Doing a search on Google, Yahoo, and MSN for each of your newly drilled down keywords (in quotes) is the next step. The top of each page will tell you exactly how many results contain that keyword. Remember, we are looking for a niche with a good number of searches but not too much competition. Also, take note of the number of Adwords ads that appear during your Google word searches. It’s important that you can confirm that advertisers are willing to pay for traffic for these words if you are planning on using Google Adsense on your new niche website.
Finally, you will need to find out if there are affiliate program available for your niche market. There are affiliate programs for almost everything these days, so the odds are in your favor. Checking affiliate networks such as Clickbank and Commission Junction are good places to begin. Simply doing a search for your keywords with the words “affiliate program” included will also give you a good idea of what’s out there.
Once you have compiled all of your information you should have a good idea of possible niche markets and if they have the potential to be profitable for you. The final decision on which niche market to target can be based on the highest search count, the least competitors, the highest number of Adwords ads or a combination of all of these factors. Finding the perfect balance between search volume and competition is up to you. Once you find your niche, you can move onto building your website to capitalize on it as effectively as possible. Be prepared. Niche marketing often results in big profits and tremendous success!
